Last Friday, Secret Bite was honoured to sponsor the two prizes for the Winner and Runner up of Miss Ethnic Ireland.
The girls competing in the Miss ethnic Ireland pageant were all beautiful and proud of their heritage. The gorgeous winner was Monika Klinaviciute. Congratulations!
The event was held in conjunction to the annual conference against FGM, Female Genital Mutilation. Every year, 3 million young girls are at risk of suffering this cruel, inhumane and violent intervention and it is believed that around 104 million women worldwide have had partially or fully their genitals removed.
The conference was organised to raise awareness in Ireland among the population and especially GP’s, in hospitals and at maternity wards. Additionally a bill has been suggested to the Dail to pass in order to delegalise any activity involved in this procedure and punish the awful crime that such a procedure is to a girl.
