Dublin Housewives, second instalment!

30 May

Ah, Virginia, that girl looks great an hour after giving birth, how does she manage?  Not an inch of make-up in sight.

The little baby boy is just a little dream and I have to say I got a bit teary-eyed when she was re-telling how she felt after giving birth to him. Thor is a great name! The web is full of people criticizing it because it’s a comic character. I see gaps in the Irish education; did they never learn ancient Norse religions and stories? I learnt about Cuchulain in school in Sweden and can find far stranger names in the Irish mythology without really trying.

Fast forward -zzzzrrrp- to the party in Roz’s place (I specifically wanted to avoid commenting on Lisa’s way of pronouncing the word ‘restaurant’, oh, oops… look what I did there ;-) ).

Danielle, I have to say, captivates. She has the most to say, lots of it is a bit cringe but I’d actually prefer to have a chat with her than any other of the ladies. She seems like she has an opinion and will stick to it and I like an outspoken woman. The way she was telling Jo to put out that cigarette, haha love it! I respect a woman with some ‘tude I really can’t wait to see more of her now. Also the way she wouldn’t budge on the height of a man, Lisa, love… your man is tall as a house, don’t be trying to push a midget onto Danielle!

An awful lot of talk about and with the children.
I. Am. Not. Interested.
Baby birth fine, but no more teenagers, small children and flying-out-of-the-nest children, please? Especially not post-teens crying about how choosing an outfit with their friend changed their life (that smells too much Tallafornia to me). Thank you. I hope this was a one-time occurrence and am looking forward to the next episode.Poor Jo, she seems like she has not spoken out enough.

Dublin Housewives! Yippee!

29 May

After Tallaghfornia (Cormac Branagan <3), which I very guiltily enjoyed watching hiding my cringes behind a pillow, I have been counting down to the Dublin Housewives premiere for ages.

The first episode didn’t disappoint. The Tallaghfornia cast (apart from Cormac of course) looked like they all needed a good aul’ scrub and sported dreadful cheap clothes and bad fake tans. The Dublin ladies are glammed to their veneers and their outfits and accessories make me salivate.

Hair is fixed and extended, faces are botoxed and re-filled, bags are trophies and full make up is caked on going to the doctor. Fabulous! In times where us regular girls are mending our eBay dresses and re-heeling our Top-Shop stilettos, it’s an entertaining escape from reality.

The first episode gives us a first glance at the ladies.

Jo has the most gorgeous house, I like her attitude to bargaining, not mad about her eyebrows and large eyebrows are in Jo! But what a body, hello….

Lisa has books in her sitting room! Suprise! The dress where she poses with her partner, to die for… And the white top she’s wearing in the restaurant. Very want.

Virginia, I’ve always been crushing on Virginia, she’s pretty, petite, funny and her Alexis Bittar bracelets…. swoooon! Want them.

The Botox doctor, Danielle. Hmmm. She seems like a strong woman but I wonder if the episode has been cut to make her appear, well… not so wise? The interview with the dating expert, Avril was a tiny bit cringe. Strange, I’m sure you have to be an actual doctor to do Botox treatments and her little boy is a bit of a witty sweetheart so… I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for the minute but so far she makes for the most interesting character which I can’t wait to see more of.

Roz has a sexy accent and looks great in wet-look leggings but didn’t make a massive impression on me in this episode. I’m waiting for the “bubbly spark” that Jo described.

Will it deteriorate into awkward watching with bitching galore a la Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? A small part of me hopes so, but I certainly don’t like to see any of these ladies morph into mean girls.

Time to search for your Roots!

21 Apr

Since Secret Cherry bought a pair of gold YSL Trib Too slingbacks in Belfast in March, the luxury budget has been in tatters. I haven’t been to the hairdresser to do my roots and the new Ombre trend for hair is just a very convenient way of wearing my mane right now.

Very proud of my roots ;-)

Oh dear lord, I think I have a girl-crush!

Frida Aasen, the up-and coming Norwegian model with the amazing Barbie-looks is just my total favourite at the moment. She has that un-perfect/perfect look, adorable, cute and absolutely stunning.

Kate Moss in a Bodystocking

30 Mar

I came across this bodystocking picture yesterday, Kate Moss looks like a cross between a sylph and a ballerina. This woman had it in her from the very start. I don’t think it’s a recent photo, cannot find where it is from but it once and for all shows that a bodystocking is not only sexy and provocative, it can be truly classy. Dare I even say high fashion?

I also can’t have enough of this second picture. What posture and talent, Kate Moss is the Queen of all models…

Nivea Cream and Secret Bite

As a part of my effort of going back to basics I have incorporated a beauty regime involving a soft toothbrush (!) and Nivea Creme, the classic one in the lovely blue, simple tin. I’ve used it for two weeks now and it seems that my skin is beginning to thank me. I use the toothbrush to do a soft peel and every evening I slather on the Nivea. I wake up with amazing, smooth glowing skin and don’tneed to put on a moisturiser under my make-up in the morning at all. So far so good!

At Secret Bite we love all things quirky, glamorous and vintage, and as Nivea has had some lovely bikini ads in the past, I’ve decided to share them with you.

Wear the Secret Bite Adriana Swimsuit, Grace Bikini and Kristina Bikini for a similar, pin-up glamorous look.

Amanda Seyfried and Secret Bite bodystocking!

22 Mar

I had to share this gorgeous image I found of Amanda Seyfried from GQ Magazine. She strikes an understated sexy and totally sophisticated pose in a black lace bodystocking.

A bodystocking should be a staple for every girl. Not only are they affordable, they are super hot and hug your curves while hiding those bothersome areas you may not want exposed. Shapewear for the bedroom? Who knew!

You know what else is great about bodystockings?  They are incredibly versatile. Layer one under your clothing – pair with a mini skirt, jeans shorts or wear as a camisole under an oversized blouse. The possibilities are endless!

To steal Amanda’s look, try Secret Bite’s Aryiana or Orrienne bodystockings.

Go Jedward! Eurovision Part Final 2

13 May

I was obviously voting for Sweden and Eric Saade to get through to the final but the stars of the night were Jedward. What a show! I really enjoyed their performance, they’re always delightfully nuts on stage and make me laugh.
